What is Skeleton Lake?

Skeleton Lake is a lake that's situated in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is a state in India. This lake is a very mysterious lake. This lake is filled up with a lot of human skeletons. Skeletons of 600-800 people can be found in this lake. Many of you might be thinking that this is like a horror movie. No, it's not a movie it's a blog post. This is true. Whose skeleton is this?

People believe that this is the skeleton of Japanese soldiers who died while crossing India for world war II. World War II started on 1 September 1939 and ended on 2 September 1945. It was for 6 years and one day. While other scientists believe that those skeletons were of pilgrims and the local people (common citizens) as their bodies dated to around 850 AD. We can't say that it's the truth. But it's the belief of the people. Those skeletons are also said to belong to other countries such as Greece. But we're not sure for now. This is said by some people.



Who discovered this lake?

In the year 1942, H K Madhwal who was an Indian forest official saw skeletons all around the lake. He then reported on this. This is the reason it is called skeleton lake. This lake consist of a lot skeleton which can't be identified. It is also said that the people whose skeleton were found were healthy.
