Who Was Neil Armstrong?

Neil Armstrong was an astronaut who was born on 5th August, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, United States. His full name was Neil Alden Armstrong. He grew up in Ohio with his sister, June and Brother, Dean. He always dreamt of becoming a pilot. Neil Armstrong worked at a drugstore to get some money for the flying lessons. He got his license when he was only 16.

Neil Armstrong's father name was Stephen Armstrong. His mother name was  Viola Armstrong. His Sister name was June and his brother name was Dean. His wife name was Janet & Carol. He had three children: - Karen Armstrong, Rick Armstrong & Mark Armstrong.

How did he become a pilot?

Neil Armstrong got his pilot license when he was just 16 years old. At college, he studied the science of flying. He left the college to help United States in the Korean war. Neil had never thought of becoming an astronaut. But Nasa wanted to give him an opportunity.

About Apollo 11 Mission (Neil Armstrong landing on moon): -

Apollo 11 was the mission where Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins were given an opportunity to fly in space. This mission was launched on July 16, 1969. The spacecraft was divided into two parts - Columbia and Eagle. Michael Stayed in Columbia. Neil and Buzz stayed in Eagle. On the way down, the computer failed and the spacecraft almost ran out of fuel. Neil piloted the Eagle and safely landed on the moon. Neil Armstrong landed on the moon on July 20, 1969. Then, Neil Armstrong became the first person to land on the moon. The next two hours, they collected the moon rocks. When they returned the whole world celebrated their return. He became famous after his moon landing.

Neil Armstrong's life after moon landing: -

After the moon landing he went back to Ohio and bought a farm. He taught classes and worked in business. Unfortunately he died on 25th August 2012 at the age of 82.

Neil Armstrong was an American Astronaut. He was famous for being the first person to land on the moon. Neil Armstrong landed on the moon on July 20, 1969. Buzz Aldrin was the second to land on the moon. The mission of landing on the moon was Apollo 11. There were two parts of the space craft : - Columbia & Eagle. Neil Armstrong had not ever thought of being the first person to land on the moon. He just wanted to become a pilot. But, Nasa wanted him to fly space. After his moon landing, He used to teach classes and worked in a business. Unfortunately he died on 25th August, 2012 at the age of 82 years.
