Who was Louis Braille?

Louis Braille was a French educator and inventor. He was visually impaired. He was born on 4th January, 1809 in Coupvray, France. His father name was Simon-René Braille and his mother name was Monique Braille. He was born in a middle class family. He belonged to French.

How did Louis Braille got visually impaired?

When Louis Braille was three, He got some injuries in his right eye with a cobbler tool while playing in his father's workshop. His left eye was inflamed. Due to subsequent sympathetic Ophthalmia unfortunately he lost his left eye. When he was five he got completely blind. But don't think him weak. He was a strong person who could never give up. 

From Where Did He Study?

He studied from institute national Des Jeunes Aveugles. It was situated in Paris. It was the first school in the world for the visually impaired. In the year 1821, he learned 'night writing'. It is tactile communication system. It was devised by Captain Charles Barbier of the French army.



What did Louis Braille invent?

Louis Braille invented Braille script which is used by the visually impaired students all around the world. Braille Script is a system of writing for the visually impaired students that uses characters made up of raised dots.




What was the reason of the death of Louis Braille?

Louis Braille died at the age of 43 years in Paris, France. He died on 6th January, 1852. The reason of his death was Tuberculosis. It is a dangerous disease. According to WHO (World Health Organisation) A total of 1.5 million people died from TB (Tuberculosis) in 2020.

We can learn a lot of thing from Louis Braille's life. He was a visually impaired person. But, who had thought that he would invent a great thing. He invented Braille Script which is even used today by the visually impaired students. We should never give up in our life. He was not having any eye. But, still he didn't loosed his patience. We should always support special students. We should never make fun of them Because they are also a human like us who are sent by the god to this Earth. Instead of cracking jokes, we should support them. There should be no discrimination for them.
